There are many students who are forgetful and hope that they will be forgiven because of their ignorance and forgetfulness. They have a powerful strong word which made us as educators "speechless". What is the word? Guess... ...
Me: You are 30 min. late for the exam.
Student: I thought it starts at 9:30am.
Me: No, the exam starts at 9:00am.
Student: Ya meh? I donno wor.
Me: How come everyone else know?
Student: I really donno...
Me: I announced a few times during the lecture.
Student (blaming me attitude): Yameh? You also didn't write on the board. I didn't hear mah.
Me: Speechless... ... (In my mind: All of the sudden it become my fault... Shit I fell into her trick).
At last, I extended another 30 min just for her to finish her test. I'm really a noob lecturer. :(

Stupid or kind???
Last week, I have this group of 5 students skipped my lecture and had someone signed their attendance list. You know wot's so special about this group of student? They are STUPID. I mean it... coz they share a same skin color which is very different from the majority of student. When I walked into the class I already felt that somebody was missing by glancing over the whole class.
I tot that they were late or something so I started the lecture without them. So, after 1 hour when I collected back the attendance list, I was surprised it was full attendant. The first thing came out in my mine - Some stupid idiot (or a kind person I should say) must have signed for the others~~ oh yeah so I took the attendance one by one. Ahhhaaa... 5 of them altogether, MIA :) Am I smart?
The worse thing is, this group of 5 MIA again in today's lecture. But at least, they learned their lesson, coz no one signed for them today.
But I can't think of anyway to find out who's the one who signed for them. Anyone who can let me know a method to find out the kind person? I will do anything you request if you teach me how... :)

Sleepy? I know what you did last night...
I still remember when i was studying in college, I seldom feel sleepy in the class unless I didn't sleep well the night before. The other reason that made me stay awake was I understand that my parents paid so much $$$ for my tuition fee in the USA. Isn't it sounds ridiculus to fly half the globe to sleep? Thirdly, I like the subject I chose. I found it interesting and always wanted to know more. These reasons are sufficient to make me stay awake.
During my college time (in the early 2000s), projector screen and power point presentation were not very common. I've got the chance to enjoy projected ppt presentation on huge screen only in the conference or seminar. Well, after 10 years, the huge ppt presentation on projector screen and animations and sound effects and well written lecture notes that I prepare for the students now don't seem to attract their attention and interest anymore... What should I do then????? Please tell me... Be a comedian that can attract attention most of the time??? Jokes integrated lectures??? Interactive lectures??? I shall watch more Taiwan TV shows may be...
How boring could I be? Seriouly I don't think i have the ability to hypnotize... Friend, do you think that i'm that boring?
So why???? why???? tell me why.... that you still feel sleepy??? Tell me what did you do last night?
- work part time until late night????
- msn? gossiping?
- blog? sms? online game? watch drama???
- Yum cha? Doing assignments???
- or all of the above in one night????
Or I did sleep early last night, I just don't like that subject!!! (why choose so then?)
Or the tuition fees is too cheap? Coz you didn't pay enough to make you stay awake? Aaa haa... That's why...

IamAnoobLecturer
I create this blog because I cannot "tahan" the attitude of the students nowadays anymore. I'm re-considering and thinking whether it is a good choice for me to leave this holistic profession, since I've been receiving complainsssss from the students recently. I'm slowly losing my patience and passion and I think its time... to put it to an end :)
I'll start with the first and the most common complain from student (These are the extracts of the comments that I received from the student evaluations)(There are spelling or grammar mistakes in the comments, its all teacher's fault): -
I can't help myself to fall asleep in his lecture. He is just wayyyyyy toooo boring...
or other similar version: -
Sometimes his lecture will be very boring and I don't feel like hearing...
Can't he just make it more interesting?
Unclear most of the times, students struggling to stay awake, don't seem look interested in the subject being taught.
What do you think?
